Summer Shorts

I decided to make a few pairs of Elegance and Elephant Bubble Pocket Shorts for my kids this summer. When I saw the pattern I immediately thought of a few different pieced of fabric that I thought would be perfect. I took the kids to Hobby Lobby to buy the fabric and while we were there I found another piece of fabric that I thought would be perfect so I bought that one too. When Isabella saw what I picked out for her she said, "That's what I've been looking for, it will be perfect!"

I usually stay up way too late working on sewing projects for the kids and Isabella is not nearly as excited in the morning to model what I made her. Because she was so excited about the fabric I thought this morning would be different. After she woke I excitedly took her shorts into her room to show her. She looked at them and then at Caleb's shorts which were also in my hand and said, "I want the Mickey Mouse one!" I tried convincing her the Minnie Mouse ones were way better than the Mickey Mouse ones and she said, "I don't even have a cute shirt to wear!" Being the smart mother I am I quickly showed her the cute red shirt that matched her shorts to which she replied, "It doesn't have anything on it!" Which means, 'I want a Minnie Mouse shirt.' I walked to her closet pulled out the long sleeve Minnie Mouse shirt I made her in the winter and showed it to her and she happily said, "That's what I wanted!" (It was 90 degrees here today.)

Here are her adorable new shorts, which I loved more and more as the day went on!

Jump roping is very popular at our house these days.

When you are 8 months old you don't need pockets so I left them off of his.

Here is Iasbella's other pair that I thought would turn out super cute. They will look great with her red shirt if I can ever convince her to wear it.

Cute sayins from the last couple of months

Tonight Isabella was having a hard time following my directions and I asked her, "Who is the mommy?" and she replied, "IsaMamaGrace!"

Last week during bedtime.
Isabella: "One more story?!"
Mama: "If I read 'one more story' will you get in bed without crying?"
Isabella: "Umm, no thanks!"

About a month ago I was changing a very, very dirty diaper and when I got done Isabella said, "You're welcome!"

About six weeks ago my bellybutton started sticking out because of my pregnancy. When Isabella noticed it she said, "Uh oh, brother broken it!" then she leaned over and kissed my belly button.

When you do something helpful for Isabella she says "thank you very welcome!"

Need a Ball!

Yesterday morning the three of us were playing in Isabella's room when Isabella laid on her belly and announced, "Need a ball!" I looked around her room knowing that her room is not where we keep her balls. I spotted some in her toy door so I pointed them out to her. She picked up a ball, picked up a drum stick and began trying to hit the ball like she was playing baseball! She then gave Ben a drumstick, said, "Daddy needs a ball!" found him one and expected him to play baseball with her! We've watched some Cardinal games but we've never played baseball like this before. I didn't want to be left out so I found a bat and began playing baseball with her too. Since I grew up as a Cardinals fan it made me very proud to see playing baseball in her room!

Cute things that have happened this week

This week when I went in to Isabella's room to get her up for the day she screamed and then said, "Scare me!" I didn't mean tot scare her and I didn't even know she knew what "scare me" meant.

Since it's been so warm lately I filled Isabella's wading pool with water and put her slide in the pool. Then, I put her swimming suit on her. Isabella climbed up the slide and slid down into the water. As soon as she hit the water she said "Goodness!" and quickly jumped up and out of the pool. She moved very, very fast!

This weekend Ben was praying before dinner and got rather windy. We were sitting at the table listening to his prayer and Isabella says, "Amen!" She must have been ready to eat, so Ben wrapped up his prayer.

Tonight I gave Isabella a choice between purple shorts and butterfly pants to wear as pajama bottoms. First, she made a choice and then she decided she wanted to wear both bottoms. I put the shorts on her and she still wanted the pants, so I put those on her too. Then, she refused to wear her shirt.

Story Time

One of my favorite things to do is read stories with Isabella before bed. She has gotten so smart that when she knows its the last book we're going to read and we get towards the end of the the story she flips back to the beginning of the book to make story time last longer! I remember hearing stories of myself stalling at bed time.

Here it is!

Today we were all three in our bathroom getting ready for our day. Isabella stopped and looked at Ben because he had a piece of toilet paper on his chin. Ben said, "I cut my chin shaving, Daddy has and owie." Isabella was okay with his answer and left the room. She came back saying, "Here it is! Here it is!" She was holding her Winnie Pooh band aids in her hand. She pulled one out and handed it to Ben! She was so proud of herself for being able to help!

Cousins

We just came home from a four day trip to Saint Louis to visit my family. Every morning when we were there Isabella's cousin Abigail (who is only 12 weeks older than her) came over to play. The girls are the same age and they love playing together. They spend a lot of time wanting the toy the other one has but that is typical for their age. Saturday when we were at Abigail's house Isabella told me she wanted water. I gave her her cup but she directed me into the kitchen and into the cabinets until I found Abigail's cup and she asked me to fill it up for her. The girls have always traded cups when they play together. It's one of the cute things they do.
Tuesday Abiggail and Leslie went back to mom and dads house to help mom with some things. Abigail was expecting to see Bella again. When she realized Isabella wasn't there to play she began to cry, "Bella, Bella". I'm so glad our girls love each other so much!
